Hi Everyone, I am a longtime browser of the forum and just joined today.
I need opinions or any help identifying this error/defect on my 1946 Washington quarter,Hopefully the photo's come out ok since I had to borrow a friends camera phone.I am not good at this stuff. any help is appreciated.

Your coin suffers from a small lamination, an internal flaw in the alloy. It is a more common occurrence on bronze and nickel alloy coinage but is still seen occasionally on silver as well. Large delaminations(separated peel) can be collectible as errors but small ones just typically "ugly-up" a coin and in the case of high grade or key coins, can actually devalue a coin a bit.

Thanks biokemist6 for the fast reply. I saved it from my "junk silver" scrap pile.

I guess it's worth hanging on to it, no real value but good for an example of lamination.

I'd keep it too. It's interesting.

Make a note about the lamination error on the flip or whatever you decide to store it in.
