AU detail, with slight wear over Liberty's hair bun and obvious friction in the fields. The reverse has some original luster in the protected areas but I don't see the same natural appearance on the obverse. Could just be the photo plus the fact the coin was photographed inside the holder. Or, the obverse luster could be impaired due to some kind of cleaning. Better pictures would be very helpful.

Several certified, no-problem AU examples of this date have sold on Heritage in the last couple months for $920 - 1000 so that should be your (maximum) price range. Certification is useful to confirm authenticity and to ensure the coin has not been cleaned or damaged and IMO definitely adds some value. You can always break out a coin after purchase if you prefer raw for your collection.

Nothing wrong with buying a "problem" coin as long as you know that fact up front!
