My first bill I ever got for my collection was a 1973 Canadian dollar, my grandmother got it for me when I was a kid and I still have it today.

Thank you all. John1, I might have to try and find one of those. I looked them up and they do look good.

Hi YN,
Nice start on the note collection. When taking a photograph you should try and have the whole note in the frame. I have found a lot of success when I use a tripod and flash and macro setting.
I would also consider upgrading the $2 bills as you find better examples. Also think about investing in bill holders for the older and nicer notes you may find.
Good luck on future finds!

I have some good holders, but I took them out when I was taking the pictures. Also, thank you for the advice.

I would take a photo with them in the holders. Why risk putting wear on the notes when you are removing them? Happy to hear you're already storing them in holders. Wish I did that with my note collection from the start.

The way the lighting was it gave off a glare. I tried to rearrange the light, but it didn't work.

It takes a little getting used to. But usually once you figure out what works for your camera and set-up things get much easier. If you're not using a tripod I would suggest using a flash, it will reduce a lot of common problems. Focusing is another issue when shooting w/o a tripod or stand.

Getting the entire subject to be in focus isn't always easy. You can improve the chance of this happening by shooting the subject at a 90 degree angle.
Even without a tripod this can be done by putting the subject on a slight incline and the camera on a decline then just use the delayed shutter release (I prefer 5 or 10 seconds).
