EF reverse, F obverse maybe.

stevo,
I will only go a F-12 since I cannot see at least six pearls on the crown.
It might make a VF-20 if differently shown lighting uncovers greater detail.
By the way this is my very first attempt to grade an Australian coin so I may be way off on my grade.
It is a nice coin, however, and I would not mind having something similar to this in my own collection.

A very nice example. I'd grade it aEF overall, with a strong reverse. Should there be some original lustre hiding under the tone then EF overall would be about right.

Looks EF to me. A bit too dark for liking.

It's a borderline MS, I'd be interested to see how PCGS grade it or if they no grade it for environmental damage (if I recall the previous owner said there was no lustre at all so the oxidation is quite extensive). Quote: I will only go a F-12 since I cannot see at least six pearls on the crown. I wouldn't rely too heavily on the pearls, for some dates, coins as low as VF almost always have 8 pearls (e.g. the 1923 half penny - though these are often overgraded due to their scarcity - a true Aussie VF should cross to a PCGS XF40), while some dates sometimes only show 4 pearls in UNC (e.g. 1920 half penny). Also those 8 pearls = EF, band = F grading hints don't apply to Edward VII issues.

Quote: It's a borderline MS Very hard to tell even in hand. The reverse seems to have very little if any wear and the obverse looks to me like a soft strike but overall I think it was worth a punt

The missing detail on the obverse is without a doubt due to a soft strike, the question is whether there is actually some wear there at all.

I would grade it as WIOI using the G scale
