Bought an 1877 Philly quarter off ebay and it arrived today. I expected it to be VF-25 to VF-30 range and suspected it to be well cleaned. I think I was pretty close in both those cases. But then the surprise. A little CC under the eagle! Then another surprise with an even closer look. Looks like the trace of the bottom of a 77 under the 1877. I don't know much about CC's. Can anyone tell me anything about what looks like an overdate or repunched date?

Page 135 of the 4th edition Cherry Picker's Guide suggests this is FS-25-1877CC-301 - Briggs Obv 2, repunched date.

Cherry Pickers Guide lists the variety value as F-12 = $75, VF-20 = $100, EF-40 = $150

Your picture of the date is about as close to the picture in the book as it gets. No shadow above the date in the book though. Comments section advises "A second, very similar RPD is also known for this date."

Looks like it might even be tripled or quadrupled, with the way the photo appears. Don't have the CP guides on hand...

Certainly cleaned, maybe even corroded. Surface is very gnarly, unless that is your camera.

Thanks for sharing, haven't noticed this variety.
