The clash is amazing, nice find!! As for the doubling, I am not a 3 cent expert, but doesn't look quite right....

Hello, In terms of the die clash which is neither a variety or an error of sorts, no additional premium would normally be expected. But as one can notice from the 'completed listing' on ebay of a very much lower graded XF Three Cent piece, http://www.ebay.com/itm/1865-3-cent...047675.l2557this one sold for $ 30. Abderrahim's CCF coin itself would be at least an AU-50 or possibly higher depending upon how a particular buyer views the presence of the clashes: additional value or a distraction. I'll hold off on the doubling issue since I am unsure if it is only Machine Doubling or possibly something more interesting. A greater magnification of the doubled area would be helpful to aid in further drilling down into what is really going on here. IMHO, mdpmedia

I'm fairly sure the doubling is just Longacre Doubling and that is fairly common on this series. It doesn't really look like hub doubling or Machine Doubling.

Hey,
If anyone could upload a verified hub doubling close-up photo for this type of coin, it would be very helpful to begin to understand the intricacies differentiating hub from Longacre, a type that I am totally uneducated on.
Other Longacre example shots of other series that could also assist to aid in the identification process would also be appreciated.
Finally, if this particular coin in question did actually possess hub doubling, what type of retail value would this coin have?
thanks, mdpmedia

Ok, A. This is a nice die clash and as a result would command a nice premium. B., The doubling looks like it is from re-engraving. I am NOT 100 % dismising a doubled die, but from my experience, and the pics (which are exceptionally nice BTW) it looks like MD and re-engraving doubling, as well as Die Deterioration Doubling C. @ mdpmedia, It is difficult to know how much a doubled die is worth, it all depends on rarity and the strength of the doubling.... for example, the 1972 Die 4 Lincoln Cent may not be as strongly doubled as say, the die 8, but is much rarer, and there fore commands much more of a premium...... Just my 2 cents.

Hello and thank you for your answers. The Longacre Doubling can be associated with the hub doubling in the same Coin?. Seeing the E of united it's looks like a hub doubling?. What we can say about doubling in the Reverse side. noahs-numismatics thank you, For the pictures I use a USB microscope CELESTRON X150max and then I set the colors and the contrast with pictures software ACD see pro2. I buy it here at Montreal: http://www.maisonastronomie.ca/index.php?lang=enI do not know if there is still stock. Did a search with the name Celestron on google.

In my opinion, the OF exhibits Longacre doubling for sure, as Conder pointed out. There could be some MD going on here, too.

I was wondering about this die clash 3 cent piece. I was notified about it at a member of another forum. Is the die clash on the device rare? Someone mentioned this. Does this ad to the value?
