I've been wondering just how many amazing coins everyone on here has, but am curious WHAT IS YOUR RAREST-MOST EXPENSIVE COIN in your collection & whats the story with it? I'm lookin through my collection now & will post my rarest coin once I figure out which 1 it is... Cant wait to see some of these coins.

Quote: WHAT IS YOUR RAREST-MOST EXPENSIVE COIN Do you mean what someone paid for a coin or book value of a coin. My most expensive "book value" coin is the 1988-D LMC RDV-006.2 that I found roll searching awhile ago. I tried selling it and trading it here on CCF but no one shows any interest in it. https://goccf.com/t/128392John1

Good question! I don't ever think my coins are expensive, meaning most are in a few dollars range to several hundreds in BV. A few maybe over a thousand or two? Rarity maybe but not too expensive.

the rarest coin I have in my SDB isn't really mine, it is a coin that was left to the 5 grandchildren by my grandfather, so I am 1/5th the owner. Anyway it is a 1907 St. Gaudens Wire Edge in PCGS MS-64. It is also the ONLY coin my grandfather had in his collection that was graded and he had a large large hoard of coins he had been saving since he was a kid

Rarest?
I dont have any 'rare' coins really.
I do have a silver Roman coin of Julia Domna which is unlisted - theres a bronze version known, but none in silver. Could be unique, which would be good. Worth a pitance though due to its condition.

Version of this question seems to get ask in one way or another .. just part of getting new members.
Of course all collectors are different, as far as what they consider rare.
For me .. because you mentioned what "you would not get rid of"
Cents 1909 S VDB NGC XF45 1909 S F+ 1914 D NGC F 12
Nickels 1939 D MS 64 maybe better 1994 Matte proof NGC SP 69 1997 Matte proof NGC SP 69
Dimes 1921 mercury 1921 D mercury
Quarters 1917 TY II maybe AU 1932 S VF 1936 D AU
Half dollars 1921 D VF 1998 S matte proof NGC SP70
Dollars 1921 Peace 1928 Peace Complete set of BU modern commemorative dollars
I am sure there is more I would not get rid of .. but these are just off the top of my head .. of course a couple of these I would consider getting rid of .. if a good deal on a better grade came along.

I consider my rarest as the one I find most intriguing. No idea of value. but a MS '63 Phillipine lead 10 centavo.

Rarest and most valuable aren't always the same thing. I have several pieces that are unique, none of them are my most valuable. My most valuable piece is actually fairly common and I probably have a couple hundred coins that are much rarer.

Not rare but most valuable is a 1943 Lincoln Cent given to me by my Dad way back in 1943. Maybe not valuable monitarily but impossible to replace.

My rarest coin is the Canadian Glow-in-the-Dark quarter because it a rare possibility I'll ever receive it. Which then makes it my most expensive coin, right?
In all seriousness, my rarest coins at the moment are my 1974 US coin proof set.
