Stumbled on it and thought someone might be interested in an *affordable* one.

Not a bad coin. We'll see what the final bids look like as to value.

That's a nice G4! If past auctions are a good guide, it should close around $1800.

its already at 1600 so I don't think 1800 is out of the question for this coin

Here is one I stumbled on on the bay & picked it up for less than 1/3 of the current bid price. It is authentic, all the diagnostics check out. I'll be watching this one.

Quote: chris12018: If you got that one for $500, you should have it authenticated. It's a $1500 coin if genuine.
BH1964, I did take it to 2 reputable dealers, who pointed out the diagnostics on the coin. If I remember correctly there are 3. The die scratch in the T & the rabbit ears in the R in Liberty & a die scratch between the lower wheat & 1st cotton leaf. Eventually I may send her in for grading. But in the meantime, I just Love holding the lowest mintage Morgan in my hand raw. Below is the post I started about it. https://goccf.com/t/121039&whichpage=3

I think sometimes people get a little crazy about "sending coins in" for grading or authentication when they are placing these coins in their own collection. I realize that this is a widely counterfeited year but if you post good pics of this coin on VAMWorld, they can probably nail down the VAM (thus authenticating it) in about .03 seconds. For the purposes of resale, then yes, having it verifiably authenticated by a TPG is important.
