I am kinda in a "pause working on my Gold page so I thought that I would start my "upgrade" series instead of thread-jacking someone else's. Today's episode: Arrows & Rays Quarter; (Out with the old) (In with the new) Edited by oih82w8 10/22/2012 1:58 pm

The reverse of the details coin is very attractive IMO. They're both very nice coins.

I agree upstate with the "cleaned" reverse being more attractive, but...

Honestly, what is it that looks so "cleaned" on coin #1 that we don't see on coin #2?

The ANACS coin had brush marks (whizzed?) in the fields and had a "shiny" appearance on the obverse. The reverse looked really nice to me.

Don't you just hate a cleaned coin in your collection? How will you dispose of the original?

All of my "detail" coins (except my 20 Cent Piece, I can't seem to let it go) have been put on ebay.

Quote: Honestly, what is it that looks so "cleaned" on coin #1 that we don't see on coin #2? The color is one way how you can tell a cleaned coin from an original uncleaned coin. Look at the very white washed out appearance of coin #1 and then look at coin #2 and see how it has a very nice subtle color to it. Ed ANA LM-3175

Both are really nice examples. Do you agree with the VF40 opinion?

From the photos, I actually prefer the first quarter.
