I knew that I saw this somewhere before. Collectors have continuously ask which TPG'ers rank where, and here is a snippet from http://www.sacoin.co.za/info_topic4.html I am not sure of it's validity, but it seems to be spot-on.

Judging by your handle, were you checking out turnaround time?

Wouldn't this chart imply that NGC is slightly better than PCGS, in that it has a faster turnaround time? PCGS is generally regarded as the better of the two major services, though. Also, it doesn't rank ANACS on counterfeit and damage detection. I wonder why that is.

Yep, that's why I choose ngc, pcgs and occasionally anacs
Rest in Peace

Is ACG still in business? It's rare to see a coin in one of their holders now days.

Cost of service provided, PCGS should have been poor for submitting Colonials and errors...$50.

That is a really old ranking list, ACG went under many years ago and PCI has been out of business for a few years now as well.

I can't say I agree with this chart.

Concerning "avalability of pricing info"...It right there for everyone to see at ICG, ANACS, and PCGS and NGC...not sure why those two are higher.

Concerning "customer service".....the only rep I've ever dealt with that seemed to really know anything about coins was at ICG. A PCGS lady (on the phone) didn't even know what a Buffalo nickel was.

As far as grading accuracy...I've seen enough garbage from every TPG that ever existed that I think "superior" is far too nice a superlative to use.

Probably the same young folks who sit behind the tables at the shows accepting submissions. I've had some real brain dead ones it seems...just saying.

WARNING! Do not buy any coins that are not graded by PCGS or NGC and sealed in their capsules. Coins that are not encapsulated can be forgeries or cleaned coins that have virtually no value.

Professional numismatists judging the TPG's.

The TPG's if they are any good, would also employ professional numismatists. That could make the compiling of such a list, and the criteria used, somewhat industrially incestuous.

TPG's should be graded by a more independently minded third party. I guess that is the way biggfredd would have been thinking.

Very easy for some behind the scenes industrial politics to be involved.

I certainly don't agree with the attribution results. If you want accuracy on attribution ANACS is spot on with their results compared to the rest. nlp

Wow, I had no idea that;

1). This was an old listing of info
b). That some fur would fly
3). Who was ACG? Perhaps why they were "unacceptable" & "poor".

Although I did know that this was an opinionated column and subject to debate.

If PCGS & NGC are superior, why is it that only about 40% of their coins submitted to CAC receive that little green sticker... This tells me that 60% are overgraded, in fact it may be much more as most dealers, investors, etc. only submit what they think will sticker...

Most of my coins are errors, and I've sent numerous PCI and SEGS coins to ANACS to reholder and have received the same or higher grades from ANACS, and my dealings with NGC left a bitter taste in my mouth that still will not go away...

I guess whoever printed this was generously compensated...
