Made the treck to Dallas along with my wife, to attend the coin show from 10/18/2012 through 10/21 and check out what the city had to offer. You couldn't ask for better weather! We both had a blast checking out the various eating spots, like the Record St. Grill, Ellen's Kitchen, the Hoffbrau Steakhouse and the Rusty Taco. It was nice to find decent food at decent prices (no "foodie" prices like $40 for a chicken breast, sides extra). We also visited the 6th floor Museum for the JFK assasination exhibit, the Dallas Aquarium (more of a wildlife exhibit + fish, very awesome), and other spots and the various parks. In between all that, there was a coin show, which I found worthy of attending, at least for what I was looking for. It was nice to meet and talk with the folks from the PCGS board (some may be members here too), like Charmy (ThePennyLady), Todd (blu62vette), Glen Holsonbake (PonyExpress8), Larry Shapiro (PQPeace), and others that may or may not be members here, like Liz from JJ Teaparty, the folks at EyeAppealingCoins, and others. By their accounts, the show was good. To me traffic was light on Thursday, but I got there late in the day, Friday has more people, and even Saturday morning seemed to be busy. Becoming an
ANA member was an easy bribe at this show for $15; it got me in the door all 3 days, plus gave me more reading material too. I wasn't a big fan of the charging for each day, but maybe there was a reason for that. I kinda like the system of pay once, get in all the days, but it was a minor quibble. We're already making plans to be at the Money Show in New Orleans next May.
OK, here are my slabbed purchases at the show. One coin will be on its way later, which I'll post when I get it.
I finally filled my last hole in my classic Lincoln set, the ever-popular 1909-S VDB! I figure I had to get one eventually and Charmy had the right one at the show, so I bought this from her. This is a nice looking PCGS XF-40 example;

This 1822 Bustie came from Glen Holsonbake. It just had the look that screamed "buy me! check out my crust!" It's a PCGS VF-35, has the look I really like.

This 1929-D Walker came fro JJ Teaparty. This one is a PCGS OGH AU-55. They had 2 PCGS AU-55 examples in their case. One had the CAC sticker and the one I ended up buying did not. Why? The CAC coin was AU, but the strike was weaker and the eye appeal just didn't do it for me. As far as we know, the one I bought did not ever get submitted to CAC.

And finally my favorite one from this show. The verdict is still out on whether it's a monster or not, but my wife has named this one "Mardi Gras". This Morgan came from Larry Shapiro, it's a PCGS MS-64 in a Secure holder.
