Hey folks,
Here's one of the more interesting finds of my roll hunts: A standard 1970D Lincoln Memorial Reverse Cent, with a third-party engraving of J.F.K. Haven't seen one before, so this is pretty special to me! Some research shows that this at most a buck or two, but I never planned to sell it in the first place. Below are some pictures.

I have seen many of these exact novelty items at coin shows, there used to be abundance of these selling for a quarter to fifty cents.

Time has change, everything gone up since then, perhaps a dollar now?

They used to come on a little pamphlet that had comparisons between Lincoln and Kennedy. I have on original still on the pamphlet and have found one in the wild still with glue stuck on the back of it. Pretty common.

They were really popular some time back. I suspect people just started spending them now.

Hi all.

I found one of these today. It is on a 1988 D. The interesting thing is that the Kennedy face looks to have been re-punched 3 times with very visible to the eye, 3 Kennedy faces. Would this help this altered coin fetch more as a novelty? Also, I don't see much info on this novelty on a 1988 D. All seem to be early 70's. If anyone thinks there is additional curio value due to the the altered coin having a major error, I will post an image. (actually, I am ashamed to call it an error. let's call it a "Lincoln Kennedy Carny Coin, Variety. It is specifically a Kennedy Double punch with a big ghost" 1998-D rpDk + bonus third ghost) I am in a hotel room without my camera or would have posted it with this reply.

Thx!

I have one of these with the paperwork. It's pretty crazy when you see the similarities between the two. But what a cool find
