I found this vintage cigarette lighter and it has a brass token applied that is approximately the size of a Lincoln penny. Any help ID'ing this logo would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Maybe something to do with the equator?

It looks almost like the oldsmobile logo of the 1950s... But I don't think that's right.

new12collector, you my new friend, our the best. If you're a girl I'd kiss you. If you're a dude, I'll shake your hand. That is the Oldsmobile logo on the lighter. The lighter was made by a company called Elgin American. Now I can list it on ebay. Are you participating in the CCF Secret Santa? You should, if you are my recipient, you'd be happy. Thanks again. You made my day.

Here's what the lighter looks like. A little rough but I think she'll do well at auction. Thanks again new12collector.

Looks sort of like this one... Same brand, just a bit more fancy.

Here is the information abou the one shown above...

Quote:
Elgin American '400' Lighter
This model started in the early to mid 1950s The flint mechanism in this lighter is unique. The top of the lighter pulls off for filling and flint replacement. The bottom of the case is where fluid goes; there is a little lever handle on the top part that is pulled up to replace flint.

new12collector,

Do you do lighters too? I do Zippos. I used to sell them now I keep them. I have almost 200. My prize possession is not a Zippo Lighter but an original 1939-40 Zippo Windy Girl Box near mint condition. The sad part is about 8 years ago I had a mint cut corner Zippo that belonged in the box and I sold it. I can't afford to keep it all so some things have to go to a new home like non-Zippo lighters.

Hi,

I have a 1928 zippo lighter from the NYPD. It has a 1928 quarter and 1928 Mercury dime on one side. One the other side it has the NYPD shield with a detective's badge number. I've been trying to find info on it but so far have turned up nothing. Any help is appreciated!!
