Hey again guys,

While digging through an old box, I found this "60th Anniversary of VE-Day" coin set. It cointained two coins;

Coin #1) A bronze medallion (not pictured)

Coin #2) A 2005 Victory Nickel, 92.5% silver, 7.5% copper, 5.35g (might be a proof based on it's frosted appearence).

So basically, I have no informtation on this coin set. I've no idea where I got it, and no idea how much it was worth. Any ideas pertaining to price/mintage?

Thanks

I remember being in 'Universal Coins' in Ottawa, the summer of 2005. As I was looking at this set in his display, for it's issue price of $29.95, the owner got a call indicating it was 'sold out' at the mint... his price jumped that moment to $39.95. I didn't buy it. That being said, I just found a web-site (http://www.blackmountaincoins.com/p...N_00344.html ) that has it listed at $19.99. So, take it for what it's worth. Prices go up, then come right back down.

The coin was issued for the 60th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany in Europe.

Mintage: 42,792

Issue price: 29.95

A selectively gold plated coin was issued with the annual report, a mintage of 6,065 valued at $80

Charlton 2013 indicates a mintage of 42,792. Yes, the 5 cent is proof finish.

So, very common. The sets sell for under $20 on ebay.

Though 'out of stock', Colonial acres has the Annual Report with Gold plated 5 cent listed at $49.95 - they indicate a mintage of 12,000 (though that doesn't indicate actual sales I'm sure) http://colonialacres.com/products.p...3027&ref=336

I love to see that. Speculators forcing the 'sell out' at the mint only to 'dump' their hoard 7 years later 10 at a time for a loss. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2005-VE-Day...t_3417wt_664 Looks good on them.

it's kind of neat to find WWII commemorative stuff 2 weeks before remembrance day.

I bought one of these a couple of months ago from the Winnipeg dealer for $13.95 (they still have it on their website).

It will be part of my Remembrance Day display along with the similar 2004 D-Day nickel set and many others.

Although in the States, I was subscribed to the RCM emails back in 2005 and jumped at the opportunity to order these. Somehow I missed getting the RCM announcement for the selectively-gold-plated version of this nickel. I would have also ordered those.

The regular set like yours is generally on ebay and readily available for around 25.00,
