I am looking for opinions on what this coin may be rated(graded). I am third generation owner and really proud of this little coin but looking for help.

The front near her forehead has a small mark and some discoloration on the left front side. The back of the coin seems really nice with no real major scratches. Am I crazy to think this would be a 64 or 65? Fairly new to this so thanks for any help in advance.

First of all dowdoc. I really enjoy the feel of weight of a $10 eagle coin, it is an impressive feel. I would not tho grade this example in a MS 64 due to the mark off liberty's temple. Just based on the photos provided I would put her in an AU range. Still a great piece to hold and treasure.

Based on the pictures provided, I think the coin might grade somewhere around a high EF to a low AU. Nice family heirloom.

Your coin has close to MS detail. It does not look close to a 64 or 65 though. The surfaces may have some problems too, but that is tough to tell from the images.

I'd guess it is AU+ or low MS with possible surface problems. I've got this date in MS63. Here's what it looks like:

I must be worse at grading Gold than I thought because my first impression of the coin when I first saw it was XF condition. I guess this is an area that I need to work on my skills a little. Thats why I like this section of the forum so much, it allows us to see what we need to work on before we go making purchases or trying to help others grade raw coins.

Edit: I didn't see that last picture for some reason and in that picture it does look like an AU coin instead of my first assessment of XF. I have no idea how I missed that photo the first time but I did somehow

Hair detail is consistent with AU grade. However, luster in the fields is diminished and there are a lot of tiny contact marks. Can't really tell from these photos but some kind of cleaning seems likely. In particular I see what looks like hairlines from abrasive cleaning in the right reverse field.

This is a common date that sells for a small premium over spot in circulated grades; the more wear and/or impairment, the lower the premium. This one is probably worth about $875 at today's gold price.
