Well, my first thought is it might have something to do with the C.C.C. as that would be the right time period, but with V.F.W. on the back I would say it has something to do with the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

V.F.W. are the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Encampments or reunions have been going on for a long time. Former soldiers getting together. More than likely these boys were former Doughboys and or Spanish-American War Vets. US & CS Civil War Vets would have not been in the VFW unless they also served in the Span-Am war. VFW wasn't around yet. Civil War Vets would have been in the GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) in the north or UCV (United Confederate Veterans) in the south. Not sure about the Pup Tent reference. I believe the bug is a COOTIE because M.O.C. stands for MILITARY ORDER of the COOTIE. Cool piece. Is it aluminum or silver? Google what I've given you for more information.

Thanks. Did google the info. It is very light weight so my guess would be aluminum.
