Well, I guess I will try and get some from penny rolls next week when I go to the bank. :)

That's funny. I find more log splitter than other varieties.

I went to four banks last week, no new pennies. However I did get three boxes from three of the five banks. I put aside all 2009 cents to take my time with later but I see very little, in fact I see more 1972 dates than 2009, which is really odd considering the amount of pennies minted for circulation in 2009, close to 2 billion. I do not know of any place to buy new pennies, I do not even see them for sale at the mint unless you want to buy 2 roll sets. I will be talking to my bank about ordering some new pennies but I have a good feeling on how that will go.

Quote: How do you guys get full boxes of non circulated coins? just go to the bank and ask? That is all I did was ask for them. The trick was to ask for boxes with the white tape on them. They used white tape on the 2009 cent boxes for some reason. I went so far as to carry a couple of boxes of mixed date cents to trade them if I was told they did not have many rolls and needed them for their business accounts.

I get a decent number of them (maybe 1 or 2 per roll) in searching through boxes of cents here in Austin, TX. An overwhelming majority (95%+) are D-mint though, so my stash of 2009P's is pretty paltry. And I only keep the ones that are in good shape, so that makes it even a little more difficult to come by the Philly 2009P's.
@silvecoinrn, yes, you would typically get them at the bank. It's hit or miss for me whether I get a brand spankin' new box or a box of circulated. I'd say about 50-50.

My wife likes to save the really nice ones for some reason so I keep any I come across just to keep her happy. Wayyyy more log splitters than the others.

I did search a $25 box of pennies on Friday and came away with about 30 of them, with most being the construction one. Gonna dump the box and get another box this week. :)

Wish I had the time to go through a whole box in one day.

I have saved a few rolls worth, and I even keep the ones with zinc rot.

@chzman - it takes me usually a week or so to go through a box unless I really have nothing better to do. :) Timing-wise I can burn through a box pretty easily while watching a football game or something, but I'm a little too ADD to search cents for 3 straight hours very often.

I search about two boxes per week, I keep finding less. Yeah, I hoarded some of them as well. Not many selling on ebay, I see the $25 boxes sell between 60-100 or so per box. I notice their is an Abraham Lincoln movie out now.
