I just wanted to drop in and say hello!
Been bitten by the Metal Detecting bug
It has been four months since my last noodle. (confession stylie)

Still learning how to do it but it gives me the same thrill as noddling when I dig a coin up , although mostly
What I have just about come to terms with is the fact that it is a different set of coins. They are most def not proof / unc when they come out the earth / sand.

Anyway - hope you ugly (bar you Nancy of course ) lot are good and behaving!

Went sweeping yesterday - found a 1954 Florin. The state of it would make you cringe. Now for something worse - I am going to clean it! lol I have done to the dark side.

... have also been away for some much needed "R+R" in Thailand, Malaysia etc.

Managed to pick up some nice Malaysian stamps.
Also found out that the 1971 Malaysian 10 sen coin appears to be quite rare. See http://lunaticg.blogspot.com.au/200...n-story.html

Now back to the noodling of good old Aussie coins . I have 6 rolls of 1 dollar coins to look through for homework tonight ....

dibby33 what detector are you using? I collect coins and detect as well, It adds another dimension to the hobby. I know your pain when you pull a florin or shilling out of the ground and it's that dirty or stained that there's no other option but to clean it.
You can get some nice coins though, A few months back I got a nice 1915h penny out of the ground, No staining no corrosion nothing didn't need to clean it at all and a coin that I didn't have in my penny collection so filled the gap nicely
