Indeed it is very cool... but its not really visible with the naked eye... when the angle is right, our naked eye will only detect a reflection from the eye area of the coin. Then its time for the camera to capture it.
I discovered it by accident, when trying to photograph a set of half dollars before uploading it. When reviewing the photos at 25% zoom, I saw something peculiar, I zoomed in and then ...I had goosebumps. It was so real-like that I was stunned and mystified. It was like the eye had the "glass" effect which is when you look the outer layer of a cat's eyes from a certain angle that you can see the glassy curve... but what totally blew me away was that after reviewing 3-4 photos (all having the exact same thing) then I stumbled upon the fifth of the set which had the "red eyes" effect, just like when you take a picture of human eyes. But instead of red glow, it was green glow. I was like "W T F just happened? Eye camera-sparkle from eyes portrayed in a coin - eyes that shouldn't even be there in the first place? How is that even possible?"...
2 photos (from when I discovered it):

...and that's when I saw the "Red-eyes" camera shot (which was actually green eyes-sparkle in the coin)
