I thought that they were replacing the Sacagawea dollar with the Presidential dollars. Why are they doing both?

By law they have to produce 1 Sac for every Presidental Dollar made, the Sac hasn't been in circulation long enough for them to just change the design.

The Sac will continue along side the Presidential series. Once the Presidential series ends, the Sac could also end.

it just really surprised me. I have really grown on the idea though of getting rid of the dollar bill and using the coin. the more I thought about it we never really have many dollars on us at one time ne way, so its not like it would be that much weight in our purse or pockets.

Regarding the continuation of the Sacagaweas, wasn't it a political deal?

Seems to me that Congressmen in the Dakotas would go along with the Presidential dollars legislation as long as nothing happened to the Sacagaweas.
Rest in Peace

Wasn't there some law that said regular issue coins had to be minted for at least 25 years or am I thinking of something else?
