Sorry I didn't have a better thread title, but I'm not sure how to describe it.
I'm wondering what was the cause of the jagged dots at the top of both the obverse and reverse and the jaggedness of the inside rim on the top and right of the obverse.

I can only provide an answer that would provide food for thought, based on reasoned guessing.

Perhaps the coin was double struck, and the planchet rotated slightly between strikes. The obverse lettering especially of 'EDWARD V11 KING' seems to support this.

My other guess is that the planchet did not sit in the collar exactly, and only fully engaged in the collar as the coin was struck, the planchet rotating when that happened. This could explain why the reverse is OK and even why most of the obverse is OK as well. I notice that some of the leaves on the right hand side of the coin are not fully struck up, (reverse), and the rim and the beads are like that as well.

Nice coin. A bit of a pity that some of those obvious hairlines could be the result of harsh cleaning.

Thanks sel. I think you may be right. This isn't my coin by the way but I have a couple with the same effect.
I didn't really notice the flatness of the flowers as I just put it down to wear on my own specimens but it's quite obvious now that you point it out here.
