Banca-D'italia-1000-Mille-Lire

I found this Large Bank Note out in the woods by my house. I'm not too sure of the value of this because its not legal currency, but was wondering about time period and historical value.I wasn'table to determine that signatures and theyre are many dates on here so I'm not sure which ones correct. The serial number is U12 009296. If anyone has any information on this type of currency I would appreciate the help.

It's an Italian 1000 Lire printed sometime between 1943 and 1947. Based on its condition its value would be less than $10. Also, you found this note in the 'woods'? Care to explain?

The colour scheme matches the #72 series and the signatures of Azzolino and Urbini. That would make it #72a and between 11.8.1943 and 1.8.1944 (European style dating DD/MM/YYYY).

Also, welcome to the community, blecksters.

I was collecting wood and the old owners had thrown their belongings out I suppose and I just happen to find them. There was also $260 worth of Confederate money which turned out to be facsimile. And thank you for the information.

Sorry no info on the individuals but Azzolini was the Governor of the bank between 1930 and 1944. Urbini was the (Chief?) Cashier from 1937 to 1953.
So their combined signatures appear on all notes issued by the Banca D'Italia from 1937 to 1944.

But based on current Italian notes demand, these can go for around $40-50 even in this condition. The catch is that most buyers are in Italy so the registered shipping is another $15.

Another link dedicated to Azzolini but in Italian (you may use one of the online translators):

Urbini was a Cashier ...

Cheers
