Does anyone know what the U.S. Mint will do once the State Quarters series are finished? Will they revert back to the previous design? Just curious.

There is a biil in congress to extend the program for 2010 to the United States Territories listed below; It has very little support.

The bill to add the territories to the quarter program has passed in the house and was sent to the Senate where it so far has no sponcer. Unlike the President coin program the State Quarter law did not mandate a return to the previous design but with the end of the program in sight, and no new proposals, my guess is that we will see a return to the old design at least temporarily.

I am a little surprised that Congress doesn't jump on the Territories band wagon. It would mean millions more in profits.

I didn't know we had so many territories. I can see the top 5 or so but the islands which are uninhabited is crazy

I think George looks pretty cool sitting on his horse on 1982 half dollar. I'd like to see that design used on the post Statehood Quarters. George Washington was quite an individual. He contributed most of his life by playing a defining role in colonial America and the birth of our nation. The French & Indian War, the War for Independence, first President, a truly amazing American.
