I've changed my roll hunting from Jefferson nickels to Kennedy halves. It's been awhile since I searched for any so I need a refresher in which ones are partial silver. If I remember right, 1964 was the only year for full silver composition and then they were 40% silver from 1965 until 1970. The only reason I ask is because I was lead to believe the 1975-1976 were partial silver too and some in the rolls look that way. The bicentennial wasn't silver was it.

You are correct 1964 were 90%. 1965 - 1970 were 40%.
If I'm not mistaken there were some special bicentinial sets of 1976 that were silver, but they were special sets.
Also, don't forget 1970 and 1987 were not released for general circulation, so if you find any of those, hang on to them. 2001 was the last year that they were released for circulation, so if you find any from 2002 - present, hang on to them. Also, keep your eyes on the mint marks. I've found over 12 circulated proofs - including one 2002S silver.
Good luck.

I think the first silver proofs started in 1993.

if you're going to search through kennedy's, silver coins are only part of the goodies. 1964 was 90%, 1965-1970 were 40%, as well as some bicentennial halves. definitely save all those. also, 1970D, 1987PD, 2001-2007PD were not issued for circulation. pick out any 87's you find. the recent ones arent really a big deal; you can only get them right from the mint so I would guess that 99% of them are still in mint state condition. any other mint state pieces from the 80's are worth saving also.
silver proofs started in 1992 ;]

2001 was the last year the Kennedy's were issued for circulation. From 2002-present, Kennedy half dollars have not been produced for circulation. You could also keep your eyes open for the 1998 S matte Kennedy half. It was issued in a 2 coin set that included the RFK commemorative dollar. It would be extremely rare to find one of these in circulation, but anything is possible.

Tomorrow is my day to stop at the bank for another set of rolls to search through. Thanks for all the advice. Apparently, I have a lot more to keep my eyes open for than I thought. Hope I find something good
