if that thing wasn't graded by ANACS I would be thinking it was counterfeit the way the Obverse looks. It could be just the way the picture was taken making it look that way though I guess but if it were raw I would have said to stay away from it if asked

I think you did fine. The mottled toning on the obverse and the scratches under dime may not be for some people but it's not a bad looking coin.

I doubt it would get a grade if it were submitted to any of the grading services today because of the scratches on the reverse under DIME. Bottom line is, if you like the coin and are satisfied with the price paid then it really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. For a slabbed AU Barber dime that was a very good price.
