Is anyone still looking for $5 hand select 1912-1914 gold coins? I haven't called my rep lately to check.

I've tried each day for the last few days with no luck. I picked up a non-hoard 1912 $5 for $450, eventhough it isn't in great shape. Wonder if I paid too much. Any thoughts?

Does anyone know the official release mintage for the premium hand-selected $5 coins. I heard that 121 of them were 1914

- 1912: 62
- 1913: 45
- 1914: 121

Found it before page 30

Anyone know why it doesn't add up to 291?

this video confirms some earlier rumonurs that a dealer had advance purchase and cherrypicked some of the best available coins and sets. Thanks for the uplink.

Thanks John. I feel happier with my purchase.

I haven't Seen the video, but if that's true, (dealers "hand selecting" coins) I'd be even more ticked off having to still wait for a 1914 $5 and possible getting a crappy quality coin.

Called the mint to see if they forgot about my order as I am one of the many still waiting for my coins and they told me that all of the orders for these coins should leave the mint no later than March 22.

I was tempted to say which year, but let it go. Figured I'd pass it along.

John100, the video makes no mention of dealers being able to "cherrypick", it does say they got about 15,000 coins. You seem to be continuing a rumor that was posted on the other forum, which from what I saw and heard is not based on any evidence.

A couple of my relatives have MC status and they max out orders for me when I really want a particular coin/s.
I am in Toronto.

Even after "maxing out" on limited orders, if you order again you can get more.
