The 1914 $5 will be the interesting one. The hoard released a very significant percentage of mintage. It had the only major numismatic premium in lower grades.

Yes. For reference, here is mintage data for these coins.
(from Charlton's 65th Edition, 2011)

FIVE DOLLARS - GOLD
1912.....165,680
1913......98,832
1914......31,122

TEN DOLLARS - GOLD
1912......74,759
1913.....149,232
1914.....140,068

The 1914 $5 is the most scarce of the bunch.

I should have bought 3 1914 $5 instead of 1 1914 $5 and 1 1912 $10.

Was any information released about the 200K to be melted?

That could represent an even large significance for the 1914 $5.

That depends on how you look at it. The 1914 $5 may be a better value getter, but the ten dollar coin will look nicer in a collection any day!

If one buys 3 1914 $5, he could sell the 2 1914 $5 to make a profit to lower his purchase of the ten dollar gold coin. Thast how I look at it.

^^^^^^^^^

These are the estimated figures for the $10 gold coins from the Mint posted earlier in this thread:

1914 - 10,964
1913 - 6550
1912 - 1336

That is why the 1912 $10 is the 2nd rarest coin after the 1914 $5 coin. And why the 1913, 1914 $10 gold coins are still available. Due to the high quantity.

I want to know how many of each are being melted by the BOC!

Does anyone think that they will ever release these numbers or does the BOC and RCM not really care about these numbers?

SilverBug: A family member just had their CC authorized for over $1000 as well, and they only ordered a 1912 $10.... Here's hoping!

With all respect to the rarity, and the historical significance - it doesn't worth such big money, as they asking.
