Silveroid. The 1913 and 1914 HS $10's are available because there was a large number of each being released. If you don't really care about the year/mintage then go with one of those... as you said you will get quite a bit more gold for roughly the same price as a $5. BUT, if owning something that is supper rare is more important to you then gold content I would choose one of the $5's. It really depends what you are looking for and comfortable with.

Ok, thank you, I understand the answer.
So mintage and high availability reduced the demand.
Except this, $1000 - this not the amount that possible to spend for everyone.
And for me, I will check their (not from the RCM) price elsewhere, and will decide what and where to get.

Added:
What I've found, the Canada 1912 - 1914 $10 gold coins (not from RCM hoard) sold and offered right now for the price that more than $1000.
So, without judging coin by it's gold content, and without really strong knowledge in the old coinage, can say, that it still good deal, that RCM propose right now.
In addition, I think, these $10 will be sold out quickly, when the people will start receiving their HS $10 and will see their condition - just IMO.

Some members are asking me what the obverse looks like on the 1912 HS $5 gold coin. Here's the obverse and reverse. I took the coin to a dealer and he said it would likely grade MS-63.

In any event, I love this coin! The wife is a little jealous.

These coins are looking really good.
I believe they are a good deal. Wish I could buy more.

Will the influx of these coins hurt the previously established market?
- I don't think so. Only about 30,000 are being released. That is a small portion of the whole.

What effect will this event have on the market?
- I think it will boost the value of all 1912-1914 Canadian gold coins because of heightened attention to them and the fact that about 200,000 of these coins will be melted, never to be seen again.

Was there a slight die rotation on this one or not?

looks like most if not all these coins will be ms 60 or better, how can adding 30000 coins to the population increase value of the existing coins.

Good post, SPP-Ottawa!

The addition of 30k coins, in itself, would not enhance value, however, the removal of 200,000 (and the attention to this series) holds some pretty good chance for increased value.

Overall, the number of coins in existence is dramatically decreased.

Most were basically bullion except for the highest grades.

The 1914 $5 will be the interesting one. The hoard released a very significant percentage of mintage. It had the only major numismatic premium in lower grades.
