@theone...youve got 3 options for appraisal which essentially means grading and then you can look up the value in any number of coin value guides......the first option is the most fun and wont cost you anything. The second option will cost you about 20 bucks and the third option will cost you around 50.00 as follows::
1. post some good pictures and we will grade it for you in this forum
2. send it to ICCS and they will put in in a sealed pliofilm, holder with a grade after removing it from the original packaging
3. send it to PCGS and they will grade it and put it into a hard plastic slab special gold label holder identifying it as a Gold Reserve coin

@jawaian...the 1914 $5 that went for $2800 in the Torex was ICCS/PCGS MS63, the other that went for $1000 was raw, and graded MS63, both equally nice.

Just a heads up, kijiji in Toronto also has a few 1914 $5 coins for sale. Since its not an auction site, you know the final price. And you can always offer a little less and the seller might agree. From what I've seen, a few are under $900. http://toronto.kijiji.ca/f-1914-5-g...rchFormZtrue |

$900 would be a pretty good price for the 1914 $5 from what I've seen on ebay with most so far going for right around $1000. Happy I bought 3! I still can't believe the bargain price the mint offered on these coins!! |

These coins only seem like a bargain compared to the outrageous prices that have been placed on the coins they've issues over the last few years. The $5 hand selects are the only decent prices on the RCM website lately. |

I've got 4 1/25 oz gold coins (orca whale, boreal forest, peregrine falcon and wood bison) that I'm trying to trade for a 1912 or 1913 $5 coin. I'd be willing to throw in a few bucks to sweeten the deal if anyone is game. There was only 2500 of each minted. Instead of cash perhaps I could throw in a silver coast guard coin (which comes with a chunk of steel from an actually coast guard ship that had been retro fitted). Mintage on that coin was 7500.

$630 is a steal. Little to no profit on selling that coin.
