Bank Of Canada 1912-14 Gold Coin Special RCM Release

Thanks for the ebay listings but I was hoping for a dealer or private sale. I have not and will not buy coins from ebay. I like to help keep coin shops and dealers in business by giving them my business. ebay tends to inflate prices of coins tremendously. And I like to look at the coin in my hand before dishing out 100s of dollars. I've got several coins that I'd like to trade for a 1912/1913 $5 which is another reason ebay is out of the question. I really do appreciate the time taken to post the listings though I'm not a fan of ebay. At all.

Dealers and private sellers are not going to sell any of the gold coins cheaply. Nor will they trade for boreal 1/4 oz coins which are widely available and have little demand.

You could get bargains on ebay, like the 1913 $5 that is around $525. No way you are going to find one privately at that price range.

I will get the 1912 and 1913 $5s to complete my set but I'm not going to pay over $650 a piece. Even if that means I've got to wait a few years. I'm in no hurry. Neither is my bank account. I'm not rich by any means. Plus my wife is already considering killing me for buying the coins I have.

Yes, that is a pretty low price for that coin.

Approximately 245,000 Canadian gold coins minted from 1912-1914 were uncovered in the Bank of Canada vaults where they had apparently <<<< logged in simply as bullion instead of as coinage>>>>>>. This represents greater than 37% of the original mintage of these coins. The Royal Canadian Mint had outside numismatic experts examine the coins in the Bank of Canada vaults and only 30,000 coins in total were determined to be of high enough quality to save and offer to numismatists. These coins that were offered were considered the best of the best and accounted for approximately 4.5% of the original mintages for this gold series.

The book is STRIKING IMPRESSIONS Privately Printed, Canada, 1984. author Haxby....basically a history of the RCM

I had heard from a couple of collectors that the Gold Reserve was mentioned in the book but I havent had a chance to actually read the book and see it for myself.

That seller cant be reached for comment but he looks like a serious seller having already got a PCGS offering available...by the way..That PCGS label looks pretty good...I want one of those!
