the Canada Gold 1912-1914 mintage figures show that 659,693 coins were minted as follows::
295,634 5.00 gold
364,059 10.00 gold
230,00 were stored in the vaults [approx]
30,000 released and 200,000 to be melted
net total mintage remaining is 459,693
30,000 coin released in MS condition is a drop in the numismatic bucket....In terms of rarity the gain in MS specimens is offset by the loss of total pieces. look at key date mintage figures in Canadian coinage
1925 five cent ::200,050
1925 0ne cent ::1,000,622,
1948 ten cents ::422,741
1927 twentyfiveC::468,096
1948 50C :: 37,784
1948 1.00 ::18,780
keep in mind these represent individual years. I dont think the book value of the 1912-1914 gold coins will change the least and those lucky enough to receive top grade coins will really have an amazing investment potential..its a lottery in which everyone who buys a ticket will win.....

I just got off the phone with the RCM, at this moment, the 1912 HS $10 and all $5 PS remain sold out. |

@jsinger21: I asked specifically about PS $5, but she did say that were all the $5 were sold, including any HS.

Looks like they checking online... I was able to order a 1912 $5 HS 3 hours after you did. Are you a Master Member? I told them I was a Master Member and was looking for a 1912 gold coin. The CR then referred me to an agent who looked and found one for me. |

I tried calling and was told they are sold out and if anyone did get some after the sell out notice that they were lucky as a result of a few odd cancellations!

When the bank hoard was released, I missed the boat and had to settle for the 1914 $10. This placed me into MC status. With the recent feedback here, I called the Mint on Thursday morning and was able to get all 3 $5 HS coins.  There was a 1912 $10 available, that was also booked for me.  I told the agent joking my visa will not take the hit for the 1912. She spoke with her supervisor and reserved it for me. They will send a request for payment later, meaning I can cancel or delay the hit on my visa.  Many thanks to all the members for the advice of just calling in to inquire. I am very ecstatic to receive all $5 coins, but now I am fretting when the visa bill comes again! |

from what I have experienced and through the tales of others you can still get the sold out coins such as the 5.00 pieces and the 1912 /10.00 pieces but you have to be persistent and meet the following criteria 1. Master club membership... which means you already spent 1000 bucks this year 2. have a friendly sales rep who you establish a rapport with because they are overworked and underpaid and they mostly dont collect coins 3. call at a time when they have cancelled stock available which is hard to predict 4. get lucky 5. speak good english 6. the more pieces you order the more likely you will be served..ie..larger orders will get their attention So the bottom line seems to be that if your calling the RCM for your first order this year and you want the sold out coins then you are simply sol beacause those Master club members are swimming around the mint in circles lol and hold the gold |

People who are Master Members seem to have better luck in finding the coins. They seem to have priority. Are you one? I told them I was a Master Member and I was able to get a 1912 $5 coin as late as Friday. BTW, telling them you are a Master Member is not enough. the moore auction yesterday sold a few of the gold coins, the au coins sold for basic bullion value, the high graded 65 decent prices half trends

Price looks encouraging, especially after the mint release. I wonder if any of the premium sets had a MS65 1912 $10. You could almost cover the full price on one coin.
