Paper? Stacks of 2x2? Albums? Binders? Do you have a list? (Like...)

I use a method sort of like that. For Morgan dollars, I have all the dates and mintmarks listed in the first column of a spreadsheet, then put a yes in the second column for those I own. After I make my adjustments, I hide lines with the cells in the second column that are "not blank".

There is an app for an android phone called US coins. It does a good job of keeping inventory. It does not have commemoratives though. But for 2 bucks it is awesome! I always have my list with me.

I use my RedBook as my inventory method. Little mark in front of the coins I own. In the margin I keep a upgrade wish list for some sets.

I might make an inventory if it gets bigger, but right now I have a folder for UK coins and the rest is loose in a box. I'm getting 2x2s for it all and my filing system will be based on colour. Ill label important coins (not necessarily expensive ones) with a monogram.
Ill make a list of nicer coins in just a small notebook - if I get a bigger bulk I might factor in storage codes to find a particular coin.

high-lighter in my book. High-light the ones I own. When I go to the coin shop I know the ones I don't have that way.

I have used excel to make a file of my coins. I categorize them by country, year, denomination, grade, amount paid, and notes. I have found that it is the easiest way for me however it does not work for some. so, stick with what works for you!

by the way, I use 2x2s in album pages, organized alphabetically by country name. on the 2x2 I also mark the country, date, denomination of coin, grade, and a code for the price I paid. I use a type of cypher that is a group of 10 letters that corraspond to numbers. for example DRCOINMANX that would relate to 1234567890 where 1=D,2=R...N=9, and X=0. I know most people do not care to write the amount they paid on their coins because they do not intent to sell their coins for profit, however, I do it anyways for the just in case time that I may not be around anymore and who ever inherits my collection would know what I paid and what would be a profitable sale. Just my style, once again go with what works for you

I purchased a coin inventory program (DVD) last year to catalog the coins I own. This particular program allows me to print a report out that has all the coins I entered. Physically I use 2x2 flips & binder pages to hold them.

I use excel for most coins I purchase.
Flips for the nice coins, rolls for large groupings of good ones, and bags for lower quality coins.

. . . people do this?
It'd probably solve my "I DON'T HAVE THIS ONE!! Wait . . . " problem, wouldn't it . . .

For those of you with a smart phone... I also send myself a copy of my most up to date excel file to my email so that if I am at a coin store, I can pull it up quick to see what I do and do not have. Useful
