I picked up another unexpected auction win (well below trends) for my 7070 last week and wanted to see what the CCF has to say about this Liberty Quarter Eagle in comparison to PCGS.

Thanking you in advance!

I am horrible with gold but will take a shot at MS-62 just to be the first one so I am not tempted to look at what others have said before I reply because of my reluctance to grade gold coins

Certain areas the design like the hair, face, and feathers appear dull and dark and not as lustrous as the recesses of the design and fields. The fields appear to be very lustrous and looks more like a MS coin than an AU coin. My gut feeling is an AU-58 but I would not be surprised if it was graded around a MS-62. Beautiful coin!

Looks like a slider. I'll guess AU58.

Apparent friction in the fields = slider. AU-58 I'd guess, but PQ for the grade. Could likely sell for MS money given the nice eye appeal.

Pretty wide range of grading, but I find that gold is hard to put a solid number myself. I saw a touch of wear on the hair and the eagles feathers & legs...PCGS AU58 CAC. Sorry no full images...yet. I should get this one in the next few days along with my 1849 Seated dollar.

I don't think it has enough luster to qualify for MS. I'll go with AU-58

Dang BH you were right on. I was thinking AU55 but at AU58 just makes it that much better.

I can't wait to start my 7070 in Slabbed

Nice coin

With the amount of luster it has, I wouldn't be surprised if it sold for low MS60's money if you ever cracked it.
