The silver trade unit is real and pretty common at coin shows.

Smokerider, given that one of these is, according to windchild, the "king of American coins," I will agree with your "known counterfeits" suggestion as being a totally possible option, maybe a "someday, when I take that fake out of its hole . . . . " kind of thing.

I know my boss said she'd talk to our local cop, but I haven't heard anything back. When I do I'll see if she found out what her BIL said.
