I bought this Mexico 1946 2-1/2 pesos gold today for melt:  Taken from a bracelet by the seller. Bits of silver solder visible and the seller attempted to re-groove the reeded edges where soldered. |

Connor, who makes the Prospector bar?
The bullet is cool. I was at an antique show on the weekend and saw a 10 ounce version of a silver bullet, not my thing but it was still pretty cool.

I got two more Canadian quarters yesterday; a 1899 and a 1901. That leaves me with just 30 more to get the complete set (202 collected so far).
I can choose to get the rest at EF-40 and pay $50,000, or drop to G-4 and only spend around $4,800 to finish them up. I normally don't need 'top shape' coins, but its' been hard for me to find lower priced (and grade) Canadian coins that don't have some of their features ground away. (Mine MUST HAVE all wording, numbers, and at least half of the facial characters of Vickie, George, etc).

I really got burned out on the whole "stacking silver" thing after buying a bunch of monster boxes, 100-ounce bars, etc., back when silver was in the $30-40 range and then seeing prices plummet to their current level. I knew I should probably double down and buy even more at these prices but, as I said, I just got burned out. Well, I'm still not ready to dive back into the market, but I am starting to at least dip my toe in the water a bit. Yesterday I went on ebay and picked up a roll of 20 1964 Kennedy half dollars in BU condition for around $165. As long as prices stay around $16/ounce, I'm thinking I'll do something similar every month. A roll of Kennedy half dollars here, a roll of pre-1964 Washington quarters there, etc. I could save money buying pure bullion, of course, but I'm a coin collector first and foremost and I just prefer the look of classic coins. |

You weren't alone in that, barryg. I've still got lots of expensive silver in the stack as a reminder of 2011 and 2012.
I've bought more silver in 2015 than all of the previous three years combined, mostly due to current price levels. And almost all of it has numismatic value which I'm pretty happy about. Even with what appears to be another round of global economic turmoil on the horizon, I'm not quite ready to go back to making significant bullion purchases. Soon, maybe. Just not yet.
