So an elderly client of mine asked me to sell some of.his collection for him. Aside from the many 90% he has for sale, he had these 8 Morgan's. Now.he said they are mint state, but like many who are not well versed in numismatics think they have something they don't. With that said here are the 8.
1881-s
1885-o
1885-p
1886-p
1887-p x3
1888-o

Please give me your best guess as to the grades and what these should sell for here on ccf.

Is the luster that flat gray or what does the luster look like in hand? Photograph a UNC quarter or half next to one of them for reference.

I can see some luster poking through, but just on the edges of the devices. I am by far, NOT, a $ grader...so...will let others chime in.

Well I'm telling you. In hand they are at least MS. I agree that the lack of luster may hinder a MS grade but I'm more interested in the fact that can these get me $40-$50...

The 1885-O and dark toned 1887 look mint state to me. The others are high AU coins. nlp

I don't think they are all MS either (even though I had to break my neck to look at the pictures correctly), the 85-O and 86 and maybe even the 88 may be but the others will probably be mid AU grades

Edit: The more I look I keep seeing that they more may make the lower MS grade, I am just on the fence about a couple of them though between lower MS or mid AU

as far as price, the 1881-S is one that you would suspect to find in super high grade so when you get one that looks like this it probably would not sell for more than 30 bucks. The 1885-P would probably be in the same price range. The 1885-O (actually a very good strike from a New Orleans Minted Morgan) maybe in the 50 dollar range maybe a little higher to the right buyer. 40-50 for the 1886 also, 1887 1,2 and 3 about 30-40 bucks each, the 1888 probably is going to be in the same price range 30-40 bucks. this is just my opinion on prices and what I would expect to pay if I were looking for coins in this condition. I didn't look for any VAM's or anything as nothing really jumped out at me to look up so if someone does the VAMming it may bring the prices up a little but I wouldn't count on it
