Financial gain has nothing to do with the crossovers. I do not intend to sell these, unless an upgrade comes along, then if that day comes around being in a PCGS slab should bring a better price. I became a PCGS member over the summer and rediscovered the voucher and I am using it. I was originally filling out the submission form for some raw coins, but only came up with four that would be worth considering (unless I send in some Britannia's). So I am crossing over my best ANACS slabs...plus one NGC.

Quote: Should I break them out of the slabs so they can be graded from scratch. Or send them in the slabs so the grader can have a starting point. Is there a service where they will keep the grade it is at but only grade it higher if it merits ? If you crack the coin out it is not a crossover it is just a regular submission and it will come back at whatever grade PCGS decides it is. If it is sent in in the holder it will only be cracked out and put into a pcgs slab if it is the same grade or higher than the original holder UNLESS you specifically tell them to cross at any grade. If you don't specify that and they feel it is a lower grade it will come back in the original holder. I don't think you can specify to only cross it if it would grade higher.

The only one that might be an issue is the 1863 IH, IMO.

...then PCGS won't crack it out. Thanks for your thoughts jerseyben, this is what makes this forum great, opinions from individuals of all sorts.

if any don't cross will you sell the coin in the ANACS slab and purchase coins already graded by PCGS and NGC since you are putting together a PCGS/NGC 7070 set?

The last time I checked they were still in "OK" status. They don't work Saturdays, or at least don't ship on Saturday. Nothing new to disclose. I hope that the PCGS website has a counter of some form to see how many times a member "checks in", which is everyday, multiple times a day, in my for instance. Strange how some orders take forever (rec'd 12 Nov, and still has not been shipped, four U.S. coin order) while others turn quickly (within a week, 18 U.S. coin order). Possibly because I sent mine in with the voucher, even though my instructions were to place CLUB on the shipping label to ensure priority handling.

Update; Nothing new for "me" I suppose that PCGS does not work weekends, but check out all of the "recent" submissions that are going through the grading gauntlet; Most of these orders received on 1/9/13 are Dark Side coins, and I have not seen any 2013 Eagles yet, but this is really irritating to see some orders with a quick turnaround. Mine were sent as a regular submittal (est 15 business days) and that time frame has been busted.
