Hello this is my first time posting on the Canada side of the site but here is the story my friends dad works for a pay phone company and gets to keep all if the coins that are not America or unusual so my friend tells me this and shows me the two giant jars of coins and lets me go throw them It was amazing! There were so many coins that I have never seen before from 1950's and older so not knowing which ones were valuable or not I focused on just canadian coins and I ended up buying 10 silver quarters and 7 dimes along with a booker t Washington half that he had!! I can post pics later but ima have to get going to work soon but I can post the dates until I get back, quarters, 41,43,43,44,50,51,52,65, real nice 1928 and one with no date dimes, 45,47*,50,55,60,60,63. The 47 has a small star next to the date? Thank you ahead of time I will probably post pics tomorrow because I work late tonite and have school tomorrow

Through 1947 the George VI coins bore the inscription GEORGIVS VI D:G: REX ET IND:IMP: ("Georgius VI, Dei Gratia, Rex et Indiae Imperator", or "George VI, by the grace of God, King and Emperor of India"). But as India became independent that year as the Dominion of India and the Dominion of Pakistan, "Emperor of India" needed to be dropped from the coinage. However, there was a demand for coinage. So, while waiting for the new tools and matrices to arrive from The Royal Mint, the decision was made to strike 1947-dated coinage, but a maple leaf symbol would be added next to the date to indicate that the coins were actually struck in 1948.
