I think Ahab said it best, lol.... "What d'ye see?" cried Ahab, flattening his face to the sky. Nothing, nothing sir!" was the sound hailing down in reply. T'gallant sails!--stunsails! alow and aloft, and on both sides! All sail being set, he now cast loose the life-line, reserved for swaying him to the main royal-mast head; and in a few moments they were hoisting him thither, when, while but two thirds of the way aloft, and while peering ahead through the horizontal vacancy between the main-top-sail and top-gallant-sail, he raised a gull-like cry in the air. "There she blows!--there she blows! A hump like a snow-hill! It is Moby Dick !" Edited by Silverhawk74 12/05/2012 11:32 am

I'm just hoping that if and when silver drops below $30 the premiums don't go through the roof. I guess I'll be safe if I stick to things like ASEs.

"I'm just hoping that if and when silver drops below $30 the premiums don't go through the roof. I guess I'll be safe if I stick to things like ASEs" Very true as many PM flippers keep buying an selling regardless of spot, which means if you got some high end Engelhard silver bars that are old and rare and you as a seller have TOO MUCH tied up in them as I all to often find myself in that situation, then you are still gonna have to price them as high to keep from losing money.... Some buyers accept this and know silver is going back up and will still pay 38 to 40 per oz. or way beyond for the right item.... For example if one has a solid buy in on a 20 ox. at 800, good chance most buyers are gonna respect that and offer say 820 to 800 anyhow if silver was say to fall to 27 per oz.. Esp if they request pap pal only invoice to by pass ebay and trust each other, which can be a gamble to some extent but you are covered by pay pal as well so I see little issue in this and have never had one arise as of yet in that scenario.... But I too think your theory Barry of ASE is solid.... This is how liquid ASE are.... I had a roll (have a new one now), and it was listed at 795 set price an lists were adding. I changed price to 780 and listed as lowest sealed ASE roll on ebay (the truth) and it sold in 12 hours.... I barely made anything but the point is the liquid factor and keeping things fluctuating. However fees will dissolve your stack fast so be weary. Esp if you don't make some money on some sales beyond ebays 13% including pay pal in that number.... Craigslist as much as I hate dealing with people in person in that risky scenario, is minus fees and no shipping cost, many use this to their advantage.....

When you sell bullion or valuable coins via CL, aren't you supposed to start the process off by facing in the direction of the CL Home Office (wherever that is), saluting and loudly chanting "We Who Are About To Sell PM's And Valuable Coins Via CL Salute You!!" or something like that?

What Ed, tied up in the harpoon ropes tied up to a big ol white load of hundred oz. bars, trying to tread water until the invetiable occurs, lol....
Indeed so my friend, that is why I stick with 5 an 10 oz. bars verses those big door stop 100 oz. specials, lol....
Not very liquid, they sink to the bottom and sit like a rock, minus being priced at just under spot or right at it....

Times like this I'm thankful I have a LCS that pays $1 over spot for ASE's and spot for generic silver. No way I'm meeting someone to hand over silver for cash. My luck the guy would end up with both. No way I'm giving ebay 13% either.

The 13% is a real tough thing to overcome and still come out ahead, no doubt it takes some solid 30% profit just to clear 17%, which takes serious knoweldge on how much you can pay on what your selling. And many would not waste their time even to make 17%....
I just sold a nice rare vintage die-cast robot for 450 that I think I won for like 330. Not getting rich but those turns are far and few between and it takes many of those just to tread water....
That is why I dabble in the vintage collectibles because I can make more per item in short amounts of time....

Actually, I was thinking more of being snagged up in those harpoon lines and being dragged into the briny deep by a huge whale. He can hold his breath for an hour and can stand a couple of thousand lbs of pressure... but we CAN'T!

last two weeks were very slow for me: no buys no sells ... got an offer for panda 2013 and polar bear 2013, but still didn't pull the trigger ... what am I waiting?! may be to add 25 oz of ASE this week for spot minus 5%?! or wait for further pullback?!

on japanese auction it happens time to time in november I've got 3 oz for 26/oz - 2 rounds and 1 austrian philly ... on dec 1st got 1 oz kooka 2011 and 1 maple at spot ... (all the prices including shipping) this happens time to time ... on average the prices are slightly lower than on ebayas of 25 oz of ASE - not many stackers of silver here ... collectors?! yes, but I have very few auction rivals so I'm waiting for the winter holidays - my rivals will leave for vacation but I have nothing to do other than bid for the items))
