I too will be looking for an update.
Christmas must be a jeweler's busiest season.

A silver one would be pretty neat to have, since I can't afford the gold version.

Here is an interesting little bit on Lego's;

Pobox asked what premium would we be willing to pay for such an item?

A buy it now PAMP silver bar is usually priced say 60 to 75 bucks on buy it nows, so I think many would pay up to those numbers and maybe even 100 per oz. if they were actually mass produced by reputable company teamed up with Lego for example with proper .999 fine silver markings....

Homemade by a jeweler then you have "Is it really .999 silver" issues, baring a first class job and stamp even by small business would still be a hit, esp if it did stack....

Now, if like Perth and Lego did get together and place each brick in nice display Millennium Falcon esq box like the mint does on the Star-wars coins, then you could count on double spot up over a 100 per bar....

I can see it now, .999 silver 100 brick castle building set complete with a solid .999 silver King Arthur and knights of the round table set! Order today and qualify for our 24 hour blowout special now at APMEX, only 9k now today marked down from 10k not including shipping of course!!

Why would you want to stack hollow objects?
This has been done, by the way.

@SilverHawk: Yah, that's what I figured. 2x spot would be a fair price I think; higher still if it is well made and presented.

@Libertad: Where has it been done before? I can find solid silver/gold lego bricks but no stack-able replicas. And, matters not if it's hollow or solid, as long as it's a certain weight.

This is an awesome idea. If the jeweller contact doesn't work out, I'll do it. I cast my wedding band using a silver maple and have been itching to put the equipment back into use again

How about struck in bronze? The main cost then would be the process, not the materials. Perhaps sell the unfinished blocks - get rid of nubs and polish them yourself.

If I'm going to do it it's going to be a set.
The silver bricks can be "fuller" than the plastic ones on the inside too to get it close to an ounce. And i'll sell in as close to an ounce lots as I can. Gotta get a lego figure in silver as well

That's for you to figure out. I'm not going to give the guy free advertising. And like I said, they would be hollow, so a waste of space, and it would have to be stamped for purity if it's going to be taken seriously as bullion. Should I mention the cost of such an endeavor? It's a serious waste of time.

Well, I don't own nearly enough silver to not have the space to store blocks of it that's not completely solid :) when that day comes i'd likely be rich enough to just buy more space.

All the materials required to cast silver trinkets can be had for under $200 easy(the silver not included obviously). It's not like you'd need to set up to be a professional jeweller. I did spend 2 months worth of weekends figuring out how to cast my wedding bands. But, now that I know the ins and outs, it wouldn't be that difficult to essentially repeat the process for the silver bricks. It'd take about 1/2 hour to cast and 1/2 hour to polish once I get the procedures hammered out. Stamping ain't a problem either. Once the weight is figured out, it can be cast on as opposed to stamped on. A fun project either way (i would "waste" more time browsing this site than getting this done). Too bad my boy's still to young to participate.

and free advertising? really?...
