I have no idea about this one. There is luster on both the obverse and reverse. I don't know if it is the design or what but this one looks like it might have had a quick dip at one point. I like the look of the reverse but the obverse just seems off to me. What do you guys think?

Considering the rim and edge toning on the coin, any dipping the coin might have been subject to likely took place some time ago.
I see what appears to be "rub" in several places on the obverse -- I would call the coin an "AU."

AFAIK - this coin had low relief. That's why its a bit hard to photograph.

For reasons unknown to us today ... the National Sesquicentennial Exposition Association ordered that Mint chief engraver John Sinnock create this coins in very low relief. Result is what both of you have ... very difficult to grade coins struck in the lowest relief of the entire classic silver commemorative series. Most collectors (me included) consider this coin to be amongst the poorest executed designs/strike of the series ... albeit celebrating the 150th anniversary of the USA was a valid reason for a national commemorative. Thanks for posting the coin Moe, gives me another one to view and compare. Nickelsearcher, that is what I thought initially, but I could not think of why it would be struck in low relief. Thanks for the input.

david29, your coin looks like it may have been stored in an envelope for some period of time creating the black on the highest points. Seems like an easy fix with dipping in EZ-est to get the black crud off. The coin looks AU but not MS. And as the others have said, it is a low relief design that makes for tough grading on coins with some circulation.

Hi staats, the more I look at it, I think this might have had a quick dip a long time ago. The coin still retains luster but probably with the cleaning it has been dulled. I agree with the AU grade IndianGoldEagle gave the coin, there seems to be some rub, mostly on the obverse.
