I'd say handled UNprofessionally in the beginning and eventually, in the very end after water is under the bridge, handled appropriately given the situation. Things happen. Unfortunately, they happened to you. I'd watch their inventory and if you see something you really like, given him a call and I bet you'll get first class service all the way. I wouldn't rule out a second chance based on this alone. Hopefully you'll get a nice discount on the next Seated Half you like.

Moe145,

Sounds good. I should have her in the mail today. Should I use the address on your original order?

Thanks,

Brian

Hi Brian,

That works for me. Yes, the coin in which I am interested is the 1846 O Half Dollar for $XX. (Note from Moe: Price deleted for future use on GTP!!)

I appreciate the discount and very much look forward to seeing the coin.

Cheers!

Moe145,

I have the 1846-O available... I will hold this coin for you at $XX (Note from Moe: $175 discount) (including shipping) as a way to make up for the 1852-O.

If this is agreeable I would be happy to ship this coin out to you now and have you send a check for the difference of $XXX (Note from Moe: the above and beyond the $175 discount + what I already paid) upon receipt and visual inspection.

Best Regards,

Brian

Hi Brian,

First, thank you for your response.

Second, the 1846 O Half Dollar you have listed on your web site is a coin in which I would be interested in the place of the missing coin. Please check your inventory for its availability and let me know if you would be interested in selling the coin to me.

Regards,

Moe145

Bottom Line:

I think, after a period of frustration and annoyance, Brian, and Dick Osburn Coins, came through as straight shooters and apologetic for this trouble I had to go through.

Hopefully this doesn't happen again.

I'm glad it worked out. I was hoping you would find something else and he would deal on it. Make sure to update one more time when you have coin in hand.

The man sounds sincere and respectful. It would dissipate the frustration and worry I might be feeling in your shoes. Wouldn't it be nice if all business transactions contained such accomodation and the willingness to give you something extra for what you've gone through?
I'm glad this is working out for you.

When someone handles a mistake like this, I definitely forget troubles I have had with them. I find future tranaactions are sometimes better also.

That is much more like it. The story is very believable I had a very similar experience with Steven Album Coins....but they caught the problem before they charged my credit card.

I tried to purchase something from DORC and he (Brian) was on the road at a coin show and could not place his hands on the coin I was inquiring about. We exchanged emails a few times but he took forever to get back to me when the show was over. I found a similar coin elsewhere. He really needs a couple hands in the kitchen or he is going to lose (more) business.

I hate to be so negative, but ........It had been sold since August? Sounds like he could have been hoping to replace that coin at those shows using your money to do so. To charge a cc without verifying he actually had the item is wrong.
If he won't hire any help, and is gone from the office for so long, he really needs to decide if he's going to do shows or sell by website.
But I'm glad it worked out o.k. for you.

You might copy and paste this topic and send it to him. He's a sharp businessman, he'll realize that his errors are being witnessed by quite a few people and he may act on hiring another person... You may receive preferred treatment for being so thoughtful.

Good luck and can't wait to see coin! I love Seated Libertys.

Agreeing with Kelly. Even if he only hires someone "on spec" as needed, I guarantee it would make his life easier.
