This one's in a little better shape than most of the other gold coins we have. What is your opinion on grade?

I'd say AU-50, with no obvious problems. There appears to be some decent luster around the stars and legend which would be a requirement for a solid AU grade. Looks authentic to me also but most USA gold coins have been counterfeited so that might still be a possibility. Weight should be right around 4.18 grams.

Are the edges in good shape? Many gold pieces have been mounted or squeezed into bezels, causing damage to the edge reeds.

Silver is swell but gold is grand!

Reeded edges are in good shape, I see no overt evidence of prior prong or bezel mounting. I also weighed and measured all of our US gold coins and examined for sprue marks. They weights and measurements all checked out as authentic.

EF45 I had one that was exact on weight size, etc. it even looked better than a real one, that's what gave it away to the TPG (original ANACS certificate days/pre modern slab era). The give away was the reeding and the denticles they were too perfect. Sold the coin to a smelter for a melt. didn't loose any money either. The gold was, well good as gold! LOL.

This one reminds me of my counterfeit one. Not saying this one is fake, it looks okay from the photos. But as a bullion piece this is an easy buy.
