So, I have two mint sewn bags of 1974 cents... the large bags. Should I open and search or just let them age in the bag?

Nice and tough dilemma to be in. Why not open one and search and hang on to the other?

Is there anything worth searching for, variety wise in that year? Or just simply looking for higher MS coins?

Aluminum cents were made in 1974...although illegal to possess.

Copper coins site lists nothing for that year. You could open one bag and look for high grades.

The nothing to look for is the reason I have never opened them. Likely just keep them as is.

Yeah, I see great examples from that era all the time. I think it is too early to break them out. Hang on to them until copper cents come about 1 per roll.. then you'd have something pretty special.
