Yeah? I was suprised to find it the way I did. I do cleanouts on foreclosed homes and I was inspecting an attic area, it was just laying there on the plywood. :) pretty awesome!

Nice find. Looks like a planchet and not a blank. I can see the upset rim.

That is correct, it is a planchet, not a blank. A planchet means it has gone through the rim processing machine which raises the edge, making the blank ready for the strike. Also, if you found that just laying there, I wouldn't be surprised if there was some hidden part with some other coins. If I found that, I would have kept on searching.

A planchet with nothing on it. So what would be wrong with calling this a blank planchet?

It just confuses nomenclature. A planchet is what the dies strike to create a coin, a blank is the disk of metal punched from the strip. A planchet by definition (it hasn't been struck yet) has nothing on it, Calling it a blank planchet is not only redundant but it also uses a term from the result of one process to describe the product of a different process.
Use of correct terms passes information better and helps newbies learn faster. Someone just learning about coins hears about blanks, and they hear about planchets but many people tend to use the terms interchangeably which leads to confusion in the newbie about what exactly is what. Then you throw in the expression "blank planchet" and just add to the confusion.

A blank does not have the upset rim. A planchet does have the upset rim. Since this has the upset rim it is a planchet and not a blank.

Its copper. And thanks for all the feedback everyone. I am still a "newbie" lol. but these people/forums are helping me to learn more and more everyday! btw "CURigo", I did search the rest of the house and attic that day. I usually do a pretty thorough search of the properties, I also found a gold stud earring w/ .25 carat diamond. I'm having it set in a ring for the wife. I found it in the crack between the wall and carpet. I love my job btw :P always finding goodies..
