Quote:I think that if they stop making the reverse proof " special " by including it in every anniversary set every year, it is going to take away from the uniqueness of the ASE anniversary sets. What I would really like to see is a West Point set with a unique gold and silver eagle in it along the lines of the 1995 W 10th anniversary set. Now that would really be a sought after set. How about a 1oz RP Gold ASE and a 1oz RP silver ASE in a beautiful lacquer and satin presentation box. Critiquing the yearly RP and then suggesting it be placed in a set next year (3rd year in a row)

I think the mint sent out surveys about a 100th anniversary Buffalo nickel design that came out in 1913. I assume it would be of the gold coin variety and not made from nickel. I also think I remember them saying something about them being RP.

My point was ............ including it in a yearly silver set. 2011 25th anniversary set, 2012 75th SF anniversary set, 2013 West Point anniversary set. If you are going to keep it special , then add it to a truly special set. Not just a yearly silver " anniversary " set

A yearly silver set COULD be special by itself. They just cant do what they did this year unless they want to drive interest away. As long as the coins are unique it will sell. The first 2 sets didnt need the unique coins since the RP was so new, but in time the RP will lose some luster and need help to keep the same sales levels. The RP is a fine coin on its own though and many collectors, myself included, would be very happy to just buy those coins by themselves if the other coins arent going to be unique. Would be easier on the wallet too

I wonder if the US Mint will be issuing the "S" mint ATB Quarters in 2013 and if so will they be including them in any of their Uncirc sets?! Has anyone seen anything yet?

Well looks like we got preliminary details on the set. Yet another RP and an circularted both with W mint marks , to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of West Point gaining mint status. No pricing yet, but no reason to believe the price will be any lower than th SF set.

That is exciting news! So how many different ASEs will there be in 2013, two different proofs and two different uncirculated, is that correct? I wonder how long they will wait until there is a UHR ASE. Maybe once the RP starts to lose its attractiveness they will move to a new form.

I know there is nothing on the schedule but the SF Mint is all set up for more of those low quality ASE proofs to be banged out.... We'll see...

I'm wondering if that Set's 2013 W-Unc. will be in brilliant finish (instead of satin).

You're probably right............ But with the variety of beautiful coins that have been minted at West Point, I can't help but feel they could have done something real special with this 25th anniversary set.
Instead, I feel like I can re-enact the board meeting : " Okay what's next on the agenda? " " The 25th West Point anniversary set. " " What did we do last year for the SF 75th set ? ". " A reverse proof and proof with s mint marks ? " " Okay, how about a reverse proof and an uncirculated, and we slap W's on them " " Now, next on the agenda ..........................."

So how does everyone feel about the mint doing another one month sell of the ASE set like the 2012 SF set? What do you guys think the price will be on this new set if the price of silver remains at its current level? $149.95 again, lower, higher?
