Don't even ask why I bothered to buy this lot because of this 1866. Is it flat or something? I added other cents for comparison.  |

It doesn't look too flat, but the compressed image size doesn't expand to well for a clear examination. But I must admit depending on the coins intended purpose, I would consider trying to control the verdigris. With that said I'll go on out on a limb and say the grade looks like it could be a low fine.  |

It doesn't look bigger than the coin on the top or to the right? I realize one issue is the one on the top is well worn. Yes, I need to do something to the 1866. I considered just leaving it in distilled water for a while first to see what type affect that would have.

I brought the pic in photoshop and measured the coins. The IHC in question is larger than the other two. I cannot tell if it's a mint error such as a broadstrike or just PMD.  |

I can tell you it is flatter than the 1906. It should be the same size as the 1906. I didn't really use the 1888 since that is well worn. The 1906 was marked XF. I should compare to the AU I have but would say it looks flatter. I don't believe it means it is a fake though, who fakes coins then damages it which detracts from the value by a lot?

Does this scan help. One is the flatter 1866 on the outside and the 1906 is on the inside.  |

To double check the "Flatness" measure the diameter of the coin it should be 19mm across, any more it has been flattened in some manner. Also the "Low fine" I gave it was because of what looks like it being a tad larger in diameter than the coin on the right. (But for full disclosure, I wear Bi-focals )  |

Looks flat to me but it is not a fake, correct? I had a Wheat penny like this that wouldn't go in a book because of its flatness. |

It's now swimming till after Christmas to get rid of what is all over the coin. I will have to determine what it needs after that, Verdicare or acetone. I think I will by myself some Verdicare with Christmas money.
