I'm looking at purchasing this Morgan dollar. The price is $41 plus three dollars shipping. It appears there is doubling on the mint mark and on the date, but it could be bad lighting and I want other opinions before I buy it. It is an 1884 O Morgan dollar.

I think what you are referring to is a product of the lighting. While there are several VAM listings for doubled date digits and mint mark, I don't think they could be spotted in this quality of photographs (at least not by me)

Mint mark doubling with 1884-O's is found inside the mint mark, not outside as it appears here. With that said, I'm thinking this is a Mint State coin and $41 isn't a bad price.

I may just have to purchase this dollar even if its for the possible MS grade. Hoping that it will still be up tomorrow night. I'll let everyone know what my decision is then.

Can anyone tell if the Y-shaped symbol to the upper right of the 4 is a mark that's on the coin's surface?

The best thing would be to contact the seller.

If the seller has a return policy, go for it!

I have no idea what that Y shaped thing is, it could be something on the airtite or something on the coin itself but I would contact the seller and ask them what it is before purchasing because it could be damage also. I just can't tell from the pictures which it is but they should be able to tell you

If you're running Windows, hold the Ctrl key and scroll your mouse wheel forward.

Looks very much to me like that's a crack in the holder.

Decided not to buy the silver dollar as the seller raised his price and put a grade of "BU" on it.
