i have a local seller, selling a 1858 Victorian 20c coin graded by CCCS at VF-30. the certification # is 102030.0002020. he sent me better pictures to my phone. I think I can haggle down the price a bit.

VF trends at 150.00$ so for VF-30. I don't think 190$ is really a bad price.

he said "this coin was graded in the first 6 months of CCCS being in business so they were a lot more strict with the grading but could grade EF at PCGS or ICCS. please give me your opinions. I want this!

please let me know as tomorrow I am moving back home!

Look at it in hand and see what grade it is. There's tons of 1858 20 cents on ebay regularly, and personally, I wouldn't pay over $150 for a VF-30.

i got him down to 160$. I save the shipping and it's not a bad looking coin in the pictures.

CCCS is a reliable grading company, it looks like a fair price to me.

That's about what I paid for my ICCS VF30 off ebay. $175 including taxes & shipping.

Hi Jake,

Have a good look at the picture of that one in the original kijiji listing... the date on reverse is quite worn and details of obverse don't look that strong.. I'm thinking would be VF-20 by ICCS...

There are three nice looking ICCS VF-30s listed on ebay right now for $199... try offering $150 and you might get one of them...

Then you have a bonafide VF-30...

Remember, "buy the coin, not the holder"... :)

take care,

cameron93

That is indeed an earlier CCCS holder (gold logo along the side). In my opinion, CCCS does about as good of job as ICCS for Canadian coins. I think it will still be some time before the market "catches up" in realizing this though.

I do quite like the 1858 20 cent pieces. I have a colourfully toned AU piece that is one of my favourites out of all my coins :)
