mds308 Pillar of the Community United States 1721 Posts	Posted 12/18/2012 12:36 pm Even though this coin was produced by the Tower Mint in London, it's Continental historical significance was astronomical. Around 1990-91, I was relic hunting a small patch of property in Lightfoot Virginia (just north of Williamsburg). Aside from some other historical artifacts I found 3 Virginia Half Pennies. All three half pennnies were about 3 feet apart. I believe the site I discovered was a French Militia camp site circa 1781 due to the French Militia buttons found in this same site. I believe many of the troops were paid with these coins.
